Sainsbury's UK School Games - 2010
Over 1600 athletes met in Gateshead, Newcastle and Sunderland to take part in 10 sports in the 5th UK School Games.
Table Tennis, staged at the Silksworth Community Sports Complex, was one of three disciplines to include disabled athletes.
64 players representing Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and five English Regions took part in both boys' and girls' team and individual championships together with 22 players in wheelchair, standing and learning discbility competitions.
The team from England Midlands dominated the event winning the boys' and girls' team competition and the boys' and girls' individual events.
Congratulations are due to Emily Bates (girls), Sam Walker (boys), Jack Hunter-Spivey (wheelchair disability), Gareth Jones (standing disability) and Sam Bell (learning disability) on becoming the Sainsbury's UKSG Champions 2010.

Presentations were made at the conclusion of the championships by Alex Murdoch (Chairman, English Table Tennis Association), Alan Ransome OBE (Chairman, Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation), Leanne Stevens (5 times National Junior Champion Bronze Medalist at the CP World Games), Nicola Perry (5 times English Senior National Champion – European and Commonwealth medalist) and Helen Weston (Member of the North East Sports Board & Vice Chair of the National Council for School Sport).
